Pool guest spotlight!

Meet Mr. Briggs, a dedicated guest of the Snohomish Aquatic Center- and proudly almost 90 years old!

Weekday mornings Mr. Briggs comes from Monroe to the pool. His routine starts in the Competition Pool spectator area, where he climbs the stairs to build endurance (he's up to 12 times up and down!) before heading into the water for lap swim. Sometimes he switches things up with water walking in the lazy river or a workout in the shallow-water lap area in the Recreation Pool.

Mr. Briggs has been part of the Snohomish Aquatic Center community for five years now and still remembers his first time vividly.

"I got a tour of the place and walked out thinking how impressed I was that a community like Snohomish could pull off an aquatic center like this. It's like having a waterpark in your own backyard!" Mr. Briggs recalls.

He believes that the importance of exercising only rises as you get older, so you might as well find something you enjoy. Though he liked swimming and diving for fun in his younger years, training opportunities weren't available where he grew up. These days, he still enjoys a good dive off the board every now and then just for fun!

It's the variety of opportunities and the friendly staff that keep him coming back, and he plans to continue for as long as he can swim and climb stairs.

We're proud to have Mr. Briggs as part of our pool community. His commitment, energy, and positive spirit remind us that it's never too late to stay active and keep moving!
