Swim Lessons

Make a splash into the world of swimming with our dynamic learn-to-swim program at Snohomish Aquatic Center! Our lessons are crafted for guests of all ages and skill levels, ensuring that every swimmer embarks on a journey of safety and proficiency in the water.

Swim lessons run through the school year (September through mid-June). Summer sessions are available during summer months.

We offer group lessons for youth, teens and adults, private and semi-private lessons, homeschool lessons, and lessons for youth/children with special needs.

Did you know?

  • Drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the United States, and second among children in the state of Washington.
  • Participation in formal swimming lessons may reduce the risk of drowning by as much as 88 percent among young children aged 1 to 4 years, who are at highest risk of drowning.
  • Regular physical activity in childhood and adolescence improves strength and endurance, helps build healthy bones and muscles, helps control weight, reduces anxiety and stress, increases self-esteem, and may improve blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Here's what sets our swim lessons apart:

  • Safety First- Our curriculum prioritizes water safety skills alongside logical progression in swimming abilities, ensuring that each swimmer builds a strong foundation in a secure environment.

Priority Registration vs. General Registration

Priority registration is an opportunity reserved for students who are currently enrolled in an ongoing school year lesson session at the time of registration. This privilege ensures that these students have the first chance to secure their preferred class times and instructors for the upcoming session, maintaining continuity in their learning journey. Priority registration does not apply for registration of summer swim and dive lessons.

General registration opens up enrollment to all students who are not currently participating in a swim lesson session. While these individuals do not have priority access, they still have the opportunity to register for available lessons.

Lesson Make-Ups

We understand that circumstances and plans can change and will grant you a full refund of your program fee if you cancel your student’s initial registration for a session prior to the first lesson day of that session. No refund will be provided in connection with any cancellation made after the first lesson of a session has begun.

Please understand that when you enroll your student in lessons, you are reserving a slot in a program that is in high demand and which could be filled by other students. As a result, your payment for reserving a slot in that program will be retained by the Snohomish Aquatic Center even if your student does not attend any lessons provided in the session.

All students enrolled in private lessons who choose to cancel or reschedule an appointment with four or more hours advance notice will now be subject to a rescheduling fee of $16/student per private lesson and $8/student per semi-private lesson. Frequent cancellations or rescheduling requests may result in losing your lesson spot, as these make it impossible for our instructors to maintain a consistent schedule.

Whether group or private lessons, it is your responsibility to make sure vacations, appointments, and other activities do not interfere with your attendance at any of the lessons in a session for which you have enrolled your student(s).
