Waterslide Project & FAQs

February 2026 Waterslide Update

In late 2023, a significant structural issue was identified in the concrete base supporting the waterslide. The district has worked closely with structural engineers, contractors, and aquatic facility experts to fully understand the issue and develop a long-term solution. This work confirmed that the repairs are extensive and would require full removal and replacement of the concrete stairway, slide tower, and a portion of the facility’s exterior glass wall. The actual slide does not need to be replaced.

We are moving forward with the next phase of this important project. Work on the waterslide base will begin in April and will take place in two phases: demolition and construction of the new slide tower. Guests should expect to see workers, scaffolding, materials, and equipment onsite throughout the duration of the project.

During each phase, we will need to temporarily close the Recreation Pool area for a period in the mornings and afternoons on weekdays. Additional temporary closures are possible as work progresses.

We understand how important the Recreation Pool is to our guests and the role it plays in daily routines and throughout this process, we are making every effort to minimize disruption and reduce the impact on our community’s programs held in the Recreation Pool, while ensuring the work is completed safely and efficiently.

Past Updates

Phase 1: Demolition (Mid-April through Mid-June)

Beginning in mid-April and continuing through approximately mid-June, demolition work will take place in the Recreation Pool area. During this time, construction crews and materials will be onsite. As a result, the inflatable slide will not be available, as that space will be used for construction activities. Please note that the planned closure dates are subject to change if needed.

Two-week weekday closure of the Recreation Pool

  • To safely complete demolition work, the Recreation Pool will be closed on weekdays from 5 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday (April 27-May 8). Dates are subject to change.

  • Weekends will not be impacted.

  • The Competition Pool will remain open as usual.

Please see FAQs below for more information.

This temporary weekday closure will affect morning and afternoon Recreation Pool programs and activities, including:
  • Water fitness
  • Open fitness
  • Hot tub access
  • Preschool Beach
  • Private swim lessons
  • Homeschool lessons
  • Swim lessons (Spring Session 2)
Homeschool and group swim lessons (Spring Session 2)
  • Due to the weekday closure (April 27-May 8), Spring Session 2 morning and afternoon swim lessons scheduled before 5 p.m. will be reduced from five weeks to three weeks. Saturday lessons will continue with the normal five-week schedule.
  • Impacted lessons will be prorated accordingly.
  • We strongly encourage families to register for Spring Session 2 as planned. These lesson spots remain valuable for continued skill development and help secure priority registration for Spring Session 3.
Private swim lessons
  • During the weekday closure (April 27-May 8), all private lessons scheduled before 5 p.m. will be paused. Lessons will resume on Monday, May 11.
  • Saturday and Sunday private lessons will continue as scheduled and will not be affected.

Phase 2: Tower construction and stair installation

Phase 2 includes concrete work, construction of the new tower, and stair installation. This phase is tentatively planned for September. More details will be provided in the coming months.

We recognize how much our community values the waterslide and the Recreation Pool amenities. While construction will bring temporary inconveniences, this investment will restore this feature with a durable, long-term solution that serves our guests for years to come. We sincerely appreciate your patience, flexibility, and continued support as we complete this important work.
